Coach Asha
Staff Coach
Asha “Coach Asha” Vilaythong brings a love for the game, a wide range of playing experience, and an infectious energy to Soccer Genome. Born in Wichita, Kansas and raised in Georgia, Asha started playing soccer consistently at age nine before going on to compete at Georgia Southern University. Her journey in the game has continued well beyond college, with experience in the WPSL, NISL with the Rome Gladiators and Columbus Rapids, TST with the Speedy Turtles and City Soccer, and most recently with Cincinnati Sirens FC in the MASLW.
Asha’s passion for coaching started early too. She began private training while still in high school before stepping into team coaching in 2020 with the MAYS Strikers at the Metro Atlanta YMCA. There, she worked as a head coach across six academy and select teams, giving her experience with players ranging from 8 to 18 years old.
As one of the newest faces at SG, Coach Asha has already brought a warm, energetic presence to the field and connected naturally with the players she coaches. She understands that every player is different, and that’s something she embraces. Asha wants players to feel comfortable being themselves, have fun while they train, and know they have a coach in their corner who genuinely cares about helping them grow — both as players and as people.
