Summer Academy

This program will  resemble the normal SGA format. However, the lessons will be condensed down to two months over the summer. As well, the groups will be a bit larger, containing everyone from one age group of players. Over the course of the summer, students will go through intensive technical training while allowing kids to enjoy the summer months.

Tryout Clinic

How can I stand out? Should I focus on taking chances or play conservative and avoid making mistakes? Should I be aggressive when I have the ball or focus on passing the ball as quickly as possible? The coaches of Soccer Genome have had extensive experience with tryouts for club teams as participants, and as coaches. We would love to share some of that expertise with your kids in order to improve their chances of making a top team.

Soccer Genome will also be offering consultation from two Sports Psychologists that work directly with student athletes from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Bradley Hack and Dr. Jeni Shannon will take time out of their hectic schedules to talk with players and parents about managing stress through tryouts and finding ways to keep your athlete confident and focused on the prize!

Tryout Observations

SG Tryout Observations are perfect for those students who are looking to progress through the ranks of club soccer. Each day of your tryouts an SG coach will be assigned to come out and watch your child perform. At the end of each tryout day, the coach will send you an email with detailed descriptions of areas that need improvement throughout the tryout and specific techniques or tactics that your child has done well that day. These reviews will remain quite positive but reinforce techniques and basic principles that have been core foundations of the Academy program. Along with the tryout clinic, this is a great way to enable your child to have the best chance possible of staying confident throughout tryouts and moving up within their age group.

Summer 3v3 Tournaments

SG will be putting squads together and coaching previously formed teams this summer at a number of 3v3 tournaments around the Triangle! Our aim for these tournaments is to compete while keeping the kids’ time fun and energetic. We will focus training and team talks on the importance of patience, quick passing and fluid movements on and off the ball. Although the styles of play will differ slightly, defensive technique is a main focus as teams will be easily broken down with fewer players out on the pitch. Possession soccer is our goal which is not easily attained without time spent together and learning our style of play. Therefore, we will open up the option to hold a few practices before each tournament, as to unify and structure our teams. We think that this will benefit your child individually and will result in good performances from all of our SG squads.

These dates may be estimated based on last years schedule. Up to date schedules will be posted as soon as possible. Click on tournament links for more information
